Right guys,

Ive sold my ST and decided i want to buy something cash rather than having a bank loan.

I have about £4000 to spend and would like something sub 7 seconds to 60.

Im not interested in Clio 172's or Focus ST170s as ive owned both of these previously.

Ive had a couple of thoughts one of which was an Astra Coupe 2.0 turbo the other a 2.8 bmw Z3 could be a giggle. Other than that im pretty much at a dead end. What other options do we have ocuk? Insurance isnt too much of an issue as im 24, 4 yrs ncb and live in a good area. :)

Impreza, 200sx, Integra, Gts Skyline? They will get you 0-60 in less than 7secs?

Ahhhh teg might be a good shout but can a decent one be had for £4k?

0-60 time being the most important thing about a car, obviously.

Thanks for that really helpfull post

Are you some diesel loving clown whos now going to start quoting 50-70 times whilst in 5th gear?

0-60 may not be the most important thing but its a good indication of a cars performance, if you prefere then i will change my previous comment of wanting something under 7 seconds to 60 to wanting something with around 200bhp or more!

Didnt realise ST220's were so cheap these days.

I had a look at Cupra R's. There aare couple that just fall in budget although they look a bit sketchy you never know a decent one at the right price might come along. Beggers cant be choosers though :)

It's a useful indicator of a cars performance, given it is the only universally published statistic about a cars performance. Manufacturers do not publish 0-100 or 30-70 times, but every manufacturer publishes a 0-60 time. You will never do 0-60 in 7 seconds but its pretty reasonable to have the opinion that a car which will do it under 7 seconds is reasonably fast, which is what he's trying to acheive.

Not that you'd understand, having never owned a car in single digit 0-60 numbers :p

Given the OP's budget I'd be looking at something like an Octavia vRS.

Jansey abuse Thursday :D:D:D

Consider a DC2 as something different. But don't expect it to be nearly as refined as the others.

Epic car though for a real man :D

Come on, does it not strike you as 'odd' that the only requirement is: I WANT A CAR THAT DOES 0-60 IN UNDER 7 SECONDS!!11'?

If the car in your sig is yours, anything that starts in the morning must be a bonus for you!

Behave yourself old chap. I <3 my ancient Ford.

I think it's generally used as a way of saying 'I want a car that's quick' while being a little more specific.

Why is it odd janesey? How else am i supposed to sumarise it?

A 0-60 sumarises my main requirement from the car and gives an overall idea of what sort of performance benchmark im
looking at. Eg i dont want a 1.25 fiesta
