Right, I would like a BMW 3 series either 330i or 335i, sadly has to be a saloon rather thean the coupe, as I need to carry 3 kids and the wife.

My maximum budget is £20k, but would be happy to spend less

Any comments from the BMW pros on the forum?
Any other suggestions, though need to be within traveling distance of Cardiff (100miles)

Thats the right specification assuming you can get over the horrific looks of the pre facelift E90. It's an N52 engined car though, so it has the older engine thats less economical but more reliable.

When did it lose its "horrific looks"? Prices seem to jump above £20k for 2008 cars, so I'm guessing sometime around then?

It lost its horrific looks in late 2008 - but not all 58 plate cars are facelift models.

Note that facelift 335i and 330i's are incredibly rare cars indeed.

Head down to Synter in cardiff and see how the 3 kids fit across the rear seat. Guessing they are not in car seats, but boosters or nothing?

2 are on boosters and one in a childseat, but it would be very rare to have all 5 of us in the car, as on family trips we would take the wife's MPV. Only really need 5 seats for emergencies.
