The problem is it looks fairly pretty but the content doesn't tell them why you would be a good fit for the position they have.
My recent CV had a list of my key attributes (not just the random cliches, for instance, I was able to back up being a good communicator by saying that I'd regularly dealt with a team spread across three different countries), and key achievements in each position I've held - these showed the kind of benefit and value I'd brought to each position.
