My step-dad took delivery of his brand new company car last week. A nice new 06 plate Saab 93 1.9 TiD.

He also got a TomTom500 kit and proceeded to fit it into the car.

Now I know people say to remove the cradle when you leave the car, but who'd have thought it would matter in a 'nice' area like the one we live in and a brand new car full to the brim of security gadgets.

Anyway, I get woken up at 5am by the sound of his car alarm going off.

Jump out of bed, run to the window and can't see anything.

My step-dad comes downstairs to disarm it and can't see anything so we go back to bed.

Just about to leave for work this morning when I notice my step-dad's car is still on the driveway. I shout to him to tell him I'm going when he comes to the top of the stairs and tells me to watch the glass. :(

Turns out some little muppet has had away with his TomTom cradle

Had a quick check around my car before I got in it, and have noticed a ding in the drivers door I'm 110% wasn't there yesterday (I've been doing loads of bodywork recently so know all the defects in the body) and also the drivers door look appears to have had a screwdriver shoved down the barrel

And to think... I've left my HU front fascia on a couple of times in the past

True, but where I live, it's not your typical chavvy council estate. There is such an area about a mile down the road but I doubt it's any of them.

Probably just some scrote down the road who had his TomTom cradle nicked, heh.

Funny though... even the power cable went!

It's such a co-incidence how this happened a few hours after I called my next door neighbour a **** as well!

edit... True El, that's what I meant. But it's a good 1/2 mile to any council/roughish area. I wouldn't have thought they'd have bothered walking up all this way when they could have had something closer to home. But still, I guess they knew... nice houses + nice cars = TomTom.

Yeah, like I said in my previous post, that's true and a very valid point.

Still it's a ****take though. If I ever hear my car alarm going off, I'll be out the door and in the car like a shot! I hope those ***** can run fast :D

I'm pretty annoyed that whoever did it, decided to give my car a few pokes with their screwdriver or whatever they used

You sure it's not a council estate?

:p If things continue, in 5 years, it might well be.

Of course, I have no idea who did it, but it wouldn't suprise me if she'd told one of her mates to "do my car over". Her mate came to the house, saw the cradle and thought I'll have that.

Someone's definitely been messing around with my car too, as there's a nice large dent on my drivers door where it looks like it's been hit with a screwdriver. Also, the drivers lock looks like it's had a screwdriver down it  *****!

What I can't understand is, how they smashed the glass, leant in and grabbed the power cable from the lighter. I'm pretty sure the doors are deadlocked, so they couldn't have reached in to check the glove compartment anyway. I must have been looking out the window about 6-7 seconds after the alarm went off, so who knows... if I'd have ran out the house I might have seen the **** legging it.

thats what i do. its parked on a covered drive and 99% of the rest of the time at my workplace. fingers crosse its still safe :o

Don't be so sure mate. None of our cars are parked on the road, and it's quite a nice quiet estate. Certainly not one you'd expect to find chavs hanging around.

I cant believe you didnt inspect the car proper, you should have rang the police or atleast even give abit of a chase.

I know :( I'm gutted about that. Who knows, I could have taken part in a midnight game of tig.

Seriously though, as soon as I heard the alarm I jumped out of bed and ran to my window. My bedroom is downstairs, the window looks out onto the driveway.

My car was parked in front of the window and then my step-dad's car next to that. I could only see the passenger side, but I had a good look and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

I heard my step-dad on his way downstairs and so I went back to bed. God knows why he didn't go outside and check it out. I don't think he found out about it until this morning.

On a serious note, regardless of area you cant trust it to be safe. Sad thing about that though you work hard for something nice and a thief just takes it :(

That's the worst thing.

I felt proud to park my car on the driveway knowing that it was safe from harm.

Having had to park my old car on the road for a year and watch it pick up scratches and dents was heartbreaking.

Now, knowing that some retard targetted the house... I'll be worrying like crazy that they're going to come back and try again. If not at my step-dad's car then mine or my mums. :(

The car is back with a new window in place now, but when I went out to look at it, I noticed a big dent in the B pillar

The cheeky **** had use a bar or something to make a dent in the B pillar, which either made the glass smash, or he got bored of trying and just smashed the glass with the bar.

****!

That sucks Ev0! I bet that did it for fun too! :(

Just been outside to get a few pictures.

This one shows the damage that remains after the new window has been fitted... God only knows what they hoped to achieve by doing this...

And one of the whole car

:)

Trust me quackers... If I'd have gone outside and seen the **** running off into the distance, I'd not have hesitated to get in my car and run the **** over.

Car thieves make me sick!

I am sorry that this happened to you and your father.

Step-father ;) (to be)

I've been thinking about doing that, but I fear that they are going to just smash the window for the hell of it, coz you sort of foiled them.

Leave glovebox closed - they smash to have a look inside.
Leave it open - the smash the window coz you pee'd them off.

I don't doubt that for one second.

These people are so screwed up that they'd smash a window or rip bits off the car just to teach you a lesson. There really is no winning.

I'm beating myself up now :( I so wish I'd have jumped in my car and chased after the scrote. I'd have taken great pleasure into make sure he got what he deserved!

I do apologise, my mistake. I should take more notice of details. (shall go back and edit it.)

That wasn't needed, but thanks anyway :)

We need to start smashing and ripping bits off them to teach them a lesson :p!!

/vigilante mode off.

Shuuuuuush! Best not say that too loud. You'll be giving this lot ideas!
