Just coasted to a third Shanghai masters title. The rankings are false right now. Murray is without doubt the best tennis player in the world atm.

Unless Djokovic can get his act together, I can see him just steamrolling everything from now on.

Enjoy him while you can.

He's only lost 1 match since the French Open and he was barely moving against Cilic in that final. Given Djokovic's recent struggles I'm not sure anyone can beat him other than himself at the moment.

There's still a fair bit of work to do but he's in with a decent chance of becoming world number one within the next few months - I'm not sure I expected to see that for a British tennis player in my lifetime.

Here's hoping he can add another slam or two at least, he is a great player and it would be a fair return on his talent/effort.

How Murray just won that tie break from 1-6 down against Berdych I will never know but absolutely phenomenal

Even if AM gets to the semi Raonic or Tsonga will still be a tough match compared to the otehr 1/2 (no disrespect to Isner meant but Cilic should have him for breakfast)

Its as much about getting through this match positively and a good recovery tonight

He made it through - seemingly making it difficult for himself twice in the 2nd set (at 40-0 up on his serve both times, Berdych made it back to deuce).

I really do admire and respect AM for what he has done so far in his career, and try to follow every match (even Davis Cup) he plays - but I still suspect even against top players like Berdych , Djok- at his best - would have gotten that additional point each time to see out the game to love whereas Andy continues to struggle / make it a little more difficult.

Now his second serve seems to be a lot better, its things like this that make getting into the finals of opens with more energy (less time on court previously) a lot harder.

Credit where it's due. Murray has been around in the time of some real legends which I thought was just unfortunate for him but he has kept on working hard and slowly improving and improving and improving. I remember watching him years ago thinking yeah he's okay. As time went on and the more I saw of him, he's just slowly been moving up levels. Well done Murray, very deserving of the no. 1 ranking.
