Right simply request after the saga I have just had with a viewsonic VX2025WM monitor I am now getting a refund (not a full refund) but enough to get me a 22" monitor.

Now although I am happy to go 22" the lure of 24" has me.

So which models should I be looking at. I want something that is going to be reliable as I can't be bothered going through the problems that I have just gone through with this viewsonic.

The models that I have been looking at are:

Dell E228WFP 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

Samsung SM-226CW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black

Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey

just out of interest what as the difference between the 2407WFP and the WFP-HC other than the £30 price increase.

Are there other models that I should be looking at. the Dell is certainly at the top of my price range when it comes to purchasing this piece of equipment.

I am looking for something that is pleasing to the eye but also provides me with HDCP support for if I need to connect the 360 to it or watch hd-dvd movies.

Cheers in advance

well to be honest i have a fairly decent system

e6600, 8800gtx, 2GB Ram, approx 2TB hdd, 2xDVDRW.

the only thing that I really need is either a bigger PSU or a monitor and there is no point scrimping on the monitor as its not the easiest thing to upgrade and given the prices have dropped a lot since last november when I brought the vx2025 I think the 24" is a sound investment if I go for the Samsung then it will only cost me approx £90 to upgrade where as the dell will cost me nearly £200.

well result I am getting a full refund for my viewsonic now and so I think I will now be looking at 24" models only now as it would only cost me about £30 to get the samsung now.

So which is better the Samsung or the Dell? Or is there another monitor I should consider?

So i have finally got the money from viewsonic so am now looking to buy.

So out of the following which would be considered the best:

Samsung SM-245B 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black

Hyundai W240D 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black

Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey

Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey

(is the dell HC worth the extra £10?)

can't believe the week I want a monitor they are not on special, typical.

Had the same decision last week, went and bought the standard (no HC) Dell 2407.

It arrived last Thursday and I'm amazed by it. The quality is excellent. The standard of the picture and colours stand a level above the Samsung TFT it replaced which is now my second monitor so I have a direct comparison.

I asked the same question about the HC monitor and was told it is a high colour monitor that is supposed to give better colours on screen. Currently though a number of users are reporting ghosting issues in games. Therefore I saved the £30 and went for the non HC.

It's expensive, but I wasn't disapointed and I don't think you will be. Just wish I had some more spare money to go and get another.

Taff

well i have decided that it is now either going to be the Hyundai W240D or the Dell Non-HC version.

Just wondering if anyone has used both and which they preferred. is the Dell worth the extra £50.

Although I have always wanted the Dell the Hyundai is winning simply because it has hdmi which means I can plug my 360 elite into it and finally see what it is like in 1080P.

i've just seen theres a llyama screen coming out, 24", i think along the lines of the samsung 245B but , well its newer, and in general llyama and NEC just make fantastic screens. its a TN panel, priced about the same as the 245b, so £315 ish. not seen any real info on it anywhere though, but was looking around and spotted it listed as due in a week or so.

i've been thinking bout a 24" for so long, but they are still rip off prices in the uk, at least the TN's make them slightly less expensive, but supposedly worse quality. but is the faster response for gaming good, who knows. in a perfect world you order both, try them out and keep whats best for you :(

you can plug a 360 with hdmi into a hdcp panel aswell, just need a dvi-hdcp convertor, the only thing you'd be missing is audio, and no one wants to use monitor speakers.

The Benq is a little out of my price range the Dell was the upper limit of my budget.

edit: sorry just noticed I was looking at the wz version.

certainly looks like a feature rich monitor but would prefer the stylings of the Hyundai or the Dell.

well i am going to get the Hyundai today. If the Dell had hdmi on it then I would have gone for it. I think I will get the Dell as a second monitor at some point in the future.

given that there is no info I will put together a mini review of the monitor.

What specifics do people want to see about this monitor.

well have just got the monitor home and my god it is huge.

First impressions so far:

Massive screen,
Lots of inputs,
simple clean lines,
very glossy,
Nice use of touch sensitive menu system.

The only down side I have is it doesn't come with a HDMI cable but thats no biggy as I have the required cables for the PC and the 360.

colours seem to be very vibrant and the brightness levels are more than acceptable. I have had to turn down the brightness as it was just too much for my eyes.

some quick images I took with my N95.
