Another "what not to do in the wet" thread

Having seen the damage a crash barrier can do to a car at ~60mph, I'd say your friend was very lucky :)

Hope both your friend and sister (who I'm guessing was in the car) recover fully, and that the car can be replaced easily :)

andyfield, the driver of your car must be a braver chap than me. I sat around 140kph most of the way back as I don't have 700 euros in my bank account at the moment. Having said that I didn't see a single speed trap the whole time I was in France. Still at least I averaged 34.7mpg for the trip :D

agw_01, my sister was in my car (luckily as I doubt I would have been half as calm if she had been involved), two of my friends were in the Westfield and both were helmetted up which turned out to be very lucky as the passenger felt an impact on his helmet (no idea what). The low weight of the car, around 550kg, probably helped a lot in the impact as there was a lot less force involved. My friend is already looking at new cars and the current short list includes a DC2 Teg, Clio 172 or GTV 3.0 :D

saw the qualifying and it was indeed very wet. thankgod no injuries, could have been a few more cars involved in weather like that.

its amazing really (and no this isnt a holier than thou post ;) ) that a blip on what is effectively a straight road could have such catastrophic effects - maybe its because i havent driven a light RWD (with good power/weight) before....

I mean i've been on my bike in the wet, blipped, wheelspun and had the rear try to overtake, but nothing resembling anything like what happened to your mates

But driving that far, in that bad a condition in one of those - nah thanks :D thats commitment...

He enjoys his speed thats for sure! Worst I've heard of so far on various forums, mainly pistonheads is a 2000 euro fine!

We only saw once police helicopter hovering VERY low, at the same level and very close to some power lines next to the motorway and a couple of speed traps on the motorway and at Le Mans. Can't wait for it next year, such an experience!

A friend got chased by a Police helicopter last year. Luckily he was in convoy with a couple of 911s and when they scattered it went after one of the 911s and he hid for a while
