Soooo, my old graphics card is on its last legs so I'm in the market for a new one.

My budget is around the £140 mark. I've been looking at the gtx 260 and the radeon 4870 here and here...

I'll be using the gfx card to play some oldies like BF2 and it should hopefully be able to play some of the new games when they come out. I play at 1600 x 1050. Last consideration, my room is HOT - my current graphics card (1800xt) can't even handle call of duty 2 for more than 10 minutes before crashing due to the heat (though this is more likely a problem with the heatsink/fan)

if you are familiar with ATi, i would pick the 4770, however knowing your CPU, MB and PSU will be helpful too. this is so any card you do pick wont be bottlenecked by the CPU or MB

as i doubt you will need a 4870 1GB at your res, unless you have plans to upgrade to a 1920x1200+ res monitor.

yeah the toxic is a awsome card, its factroy clocked to and it goes physco if you overclock it even more, not sure if its a little over kill for you but hay best for overkill :D

For the extra £15-20 get the 260-16 or the 1mb 4870.

A little of future-proofing if you get a bigger monitor.

What is it, an extra few pints on a night out?
