is there a expansion card where you add phone capabilitys to my copmputer? i hate it when i have to leave my computer to answer a call and come back dead in a game =/

Cordless phone?

Surely this would be the most obvious choice over a card for an "Analogue" phone if there is a solution

If your biggest concern in life is being unable to play games while you answer phone calls... I suggest a therapist.

There's more to life :). As someone else has suggested, just buy a wireless house phone.

i do have cordless phones down stairs but the signal will suddenly cut off sometimes, maybe i just need to invest in better ones :P but im just asking and exploring all options, in the end if i cant find anything then cordless phones it will have to be.

another problem is breaking them, because their cordless allot of the time we just chuck to phone to each other and the screens on them are already broken LOL :P

lol the problem is not unable to play while on the phone, its receiving like 5 calls from gran just to see what you doing, 5 calls from my mum to see if my dad is home, 5 calls from my dad after my mum called him and shouted at him for not being at home all day and another 5 from my parents to tell me to call my lil sister as shes out all the time.

now i not playing games the entire day but whenever i play i expect to get a call within 30 mins of sitting down.

now i am exaggerating a little they don't call me 5 times a day every day, but the do get to that amount and they range from 7-15 calls a day. then theres those people who call up for surveys and advertising and scams(lol i keep getting calls from people pretending to be from microsoft trying to get me to do stuff on my computer, i just told em i ran ubuntu and they always go err..... ubu.. what... LOL)

Get them to call your mobile and use one of those rubbish looking bluetooth ear things.

Well that will go down well...
Mum, Dad... from now on, you're going to have to pay more money to ring me as I can't be bothered to stop playing my game and pick the home phone up.

There are some interface cards for connecting a phone line to a PC, but the only times I've seen them used are when people build a VOIP setup such as Asterisk, and I'm not sure if these sort of interface cards can be used to simply answer the phone and nothing else. If I remember right its an FXO card you need (I could be wrong as asterisk boxes use FXO and FXS ports and I could be getting them round the wrong way).

Even if you do get one of these cards (which can potentially cost over £100 quite easily depending on make/model) there is then the matter of getting the correct software to handle it, Asterisk may be able to work but this is not the sort of thing its designed for.

So to answer your question yes its possible to answer a call from your computer, but it won't be simple or cheap. If you are willing to have a phone wire going to your PC anyway, why not simply wire it into an actual phone and have that there in addition to your usual home phone elsewhere in your house.
