Ant attack =/

We had a kitchen invasion last year so will be getting some of these.

It does sound particularly fiendish though - making the ants take the poison back to their nest! lol :(

Should stay out the damn house then :p

I felt bad at first, but after moths, spiders, mossies, worms, ants and then lizards/snakes in the garden I just want anything entering my house to stop.

the bait traps work really well

try and identify where they come in and seal it..around waste pipes etc
ant powder outside at the base of the exterior walls

I should have some ant bait stations arriving today together with some cream and some ant powder arriving tomorrow so will put some around and see how it goes.

Bait stations work really well.

We had an invasion in our Kitchen last year and put 2 stations out, 2 days later no more ants!

Take off and nuke the site from orbit

Or... "Seven canisters of CM-20. I say we roll them in there and nerve gas the whole cussin' nest."

Magnifying glass and sunshine, if you don't mind the aroma of burning flesh.

On a serious note, there was a solitary ant on the worktop in the kitchen the other day.

It died.

Mental note to call by Wilko's or B&Q and buy a few bait stations.

Bait stations have been a total bust for me, the ants completely ignore them

I've got young kids, so my hands are tied a little bit with what I can use. The ants feed from the kitchen bin, and are now in their third year with us.

I recently bought some of the nippon liquid ant killer and spread it around the bin whilst avoiding putting foodstuffs in for about 36 hours. 3 days later, and I'm not seeing any ants. I'm not convinced they're all dead yet, but early signs are good

The theory behind Nippon is the workers gorge on it, but the poison is slow acting so they have time to return to the nest and contaminate the colony including hopefully the Queen. CM20, then. I always assumed the bait stations worked on a similar basis as the idea is to eliminate the threat en mass, not once they are indoors and getting inside your rhubarb jam and marmalade jars.

The bait stations might have the same stuff inside but I just think it's not as attractive to them as actual food, so they ignore it.

They did feed on the liquid poison stuff I put in the bin, but not as voraciously as they fed on real food. And I bet they'd have ignored it if food wad an alternative

Bought the four (proper Nippon) bait stations this morning. One under the sink, two under the kitchen window and one out the back. Also got a barrier spray which I'll probably go round the doors and windows with.

As an aside it is worth checking under the sink as we found a large hole in the concrete floor where the waste pipe from the sink plumbing went through. Obviously where some of the wee beasties were getting in. Plugged with Polyfilla though I expect they are even as we speak chiseling away with their little feet to try and get through...

You arent aloud to complain untill you have a ladybird infestation, sounds “nice” to have ladybirds everywhere untill you remember they stink when scared/killed and when you have thousands being scared/killed at the same time your house smells like ass.

Best post ever!

Ants are back :(

Will do the same trick over the weekend. Not confident we'll ever get rid of the little gits though.

I got covered head to toe with ants as a kid. I went to the bottom of the garden to get my scooter that was half on the grass and half on the garden path. That part of the garden is a step down so the ants must have built a nest over half the scooter. From memory it all happened in an instant, I grabbed the scooter and pulled it up and in an instant I have ants crawling all over me, I ran screaming into the house and my brother and sister started swatting me.
