Antec 1200 at Computex

You've made your point :P

I'm indifferent to this one. It's alright. Not totally ugly but not the nicest either. I'm using the P180, I don't really think of it as a fridge though. But then I cant think of any cases more boring than the Lian Li range so i suppose there's no telling other people what is nice and what isn't.

I think i'd head for a stacker over this. Maybe an Armor. Anyone know what sort of price range this is aimed at?

I too find LL cases boring.

Regardless of aesthetics, it's looking an interesting proposition, if it's priced competitively (like the 900) it'll do well because of the space inside, just like the early stackers there's a huge unhindered area available to fit wc gear.

Cases big enough to accomodate 120.3's are pretty thin on the ground, (G70, TJ-07, V2000 etc) and they all cost just shy of 200 sheets, loads of people bought a cheap 900 to mod and i think this one could become popular with that crowd too if the price is right.

I saw on these very forums, a price going for £89

£89's a bargain, that's about £30 less than the old shape Stacker. I may get one just to play with at that price.

Yeah its gonna be £89, was confirmed with hex preview, they got a nice picture of the inside but was tad disapointed with the overall space inside.

They say it can fit a EATX board... but it looks the same lenght as the Antec 900 so dunno how that works out, I would have thought the engineer designing it would have used his mind for 2 minutes and thought wait a GTX hits the edge of the hdd tray !

Anyhow cant see fully in that pic:

Looks same length as the Antec 900 or is it just me?

Do adore there black finish in the inside and more cable routing holes, so definatly better then P182 in that regard.

I maybe forced to wait for this case now they should have it out by now its end of October already !

The black inside kind of sold me too, i'd like to get a bit creative with the top though, I'm not a fan of it in it's present form. The length issue shouldn't be too much of a problem for me as i'd stick a 120.3 in the front and just have 1 optical and one HD at the top, that way the edge of the GTX shouldn't foul anything if I remove the HD caddy.

I think it looks rather cool ;)

Dunno why.. loved the design and front of my antec 900.... epecially after looking at my Eclipse front for almost a year :)

You gotta remember its a case designed to have excellent cooling properties alround, its gonna make your heatsink/cpu go cold its gonna make your GTX and hdds go Cold too.

Not many cases apart from the stackers offer this level of cooling potential.

The more cases I've got through the more I've come to realise that they've all got shortcomings...basically to my mind bigger is better, it makes life so much easier especially when it comes to WCing...i'm leaning more towards usability than looks now.

Lian-Li V1100
Had a divider that stopped any long PSU's fitting and had rubbish airflow, plus the insides on Lian-Li's should be powder coated imo, the insides scratch far too easily which isn't acceptable on the £150+ case. Annoying dual compartment. Ran it with a Koolance EXOS AI so space wasn't an issue particularly.

Antec P180
Noisier than the Lian-Li, also had the divider which stopped me fitting an Enermax Galaxy without drilling it out. Very little space inside considering it's external dimensions, I did manage to get a PA160, pump, res etc internally but not without dremeling the life out of it. I'm really not a fan of the dual compartment thing, it just causes more problems than it solves. OK for the money though.

Lian_li A16B
As above, scratches far too easily on the inside. Great looks but expensive for what it is and not suited to internal watercooling easily, not enough space.

That all sounds very negative, it's not intended to be, everyone of the above had something I liked, but what I'm basically saying is that no case is perfect and looks are VERY subjective, however, this case might actually be the first one that ticks all the boxes for me. I'm not a huge fan of the top and I'm not into windows and lights particularly but internally it looks spot on....and that's my priority right now.

Definatly agree.... ive just noticed big cases have all that air room and space to work in, im not even on wc setup but just think its a pleasure and more easy to work with and less heat build up.

If somethings squashed usualy inside heat tends to build up not unless its being cooling activly and correctly (antec 900 did this well)

P182 I complained about the size issue straight away, whats the point of releasing it when a GTX is hitting the edge of it you cant even put a fan on the end of the cage to cool it.

Usability is highly important, Antec 1200 aint perfect but then no case is but if it can be 90% way there then its a prime choice:)

All that and its still not out, I think due to crysis demo Im gonna be using a static matt on the floor for the next month or 2 :(

This thing is completely awful, i have the 900 and love it to bits, they went backwards several steps when they created this...

Still didnt arrive late october and too late ordered the Lian Li ;)

Antec missed that Xmas rushing spree they should have released this case 2 months ago and in time for custom pcs and system builders.
