Antec 1200 at Computex

Antec 900 didnt have one, and the Antec 1200 wont either.

Would be lucky if the Antec 1200 even came out frankly, id look at manufacturers and other brands that can delivery high quality Cases rather then wait on the Antec 1200.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

In no particular rush to upgrade, just that the 1200 caught my eye. It does seem to be taking a long time coming to retail as you say. I might get the 900 if the 1200 never comes to fruition.

The 1200 could well be a great case for watercooling, although hopefully they will sort out the cable management this time around.

I dont reckon the 1200 would be a removable tray, it doesnt look it from the pics and design....

but yeah u wont be disapointed with the antec 900 its a lovely case :)

From the pics looks like they've added holes so you can thread wires behind mobo and the sidepannel.

Could be great for watercooling - 20cm rad in the roof, pa120.3 in the front and a 120.2 on the back. Still, what the hell is going on on the top of it? The honeycomb bent around the 20cm fan is just crap. Looks like it was desgned by a blind retarded child.

Phoned OCUK and apparently they have NO plans to get this case in, so went with a Lian Li V2000b instead which arrived yesterday. Its a classy looking class I must say, now I see why Lian-Li has such a following.

owww. its been a year, i want something, even a pricetag

Best to move on frankly... this is a case that just never came out.

Turned out into the DNF cases of all time.

Guess it will arrive oneday but frankly theres much better companies then antec, as people have said they obviously cant delivery to there customers go for Lian Li and other top brands that can release something:)

I saw a newer prototype of this case at i33, and I talked to the Antec guy in video I made about the event where he showed me stuff to do with the fans.

I don't have this part on camera, but he said it would be around the £120-150 mark and definitely out this year, hopefully within a few months. Also, there were more holes in the back for cable management, along with a sata port on the front. I must say, I did like the case :).

Conclusion

The Antec 1200 has been a long time coming. That could have been a problem, as it's given the competition time to produce cases to challenge it in the middle-money market of around £120. However, that sector has been surprisingly quiet.

There's no doubt that the Antec 1200 is a capable performer and one that offers a lot of potential. The supplied cooling - which can be extended further - could reasonably be described as overkill (verging on the insane?).

However, we found the case easy to live with for day-to-day tasks if the fans were all turned to their lowest settings. Things were very different with all fans set on high - the experience was painfully noisy. And, run like that, it was one of the loudest chassis we've had through the labs.

But there are a good many positives. We were impressed by the Antec 1200's potential for 9Tib of HDD storage. And, as well as nine hard disks - all actively cooled - it has three 5.25in bays spare, giving space for a pair of optical drives and a floppy disk.

Importantly, there was a good 50mm (2in) of clearance between our test 2900XT card and the nearest HDD caddy, so the Antec 1200 is well able to accommodate the latest giants of the GPU world.

Overall, the Antec 1200 is a very likeable chassis. We think it's got a great colour scheme throughout (but we do like black!) and, when it finally makes production, we'd presume it will be built to the high standards we have come to expect from Antec.

But we do have a bit of an issue with the official price of US$209, which we translate to £120. That's a little too high for our liking.

Fortunately, though, with the usual margin-trimming that e-tailers manage, we'd reckon that the Antec 1200 will be available for a little over £110 all up. And, to us, that's about right for what is a well-built and capable chassis that showed itself in our testing to be a great performer.

Loving the all black finish, especially inside, but £110+ seems a bit pricey to me.

It's got very little competition in it's price bracket, the old stacker and the cosmos iirc, so I think it's going to be popular, £100 is about right for it.
