I'm going to be building a rig using the antec 300 case, which has a 120mm rear fan and 140mm top fan stock, then 2 120mm front optional fans and 1 120mm side optional fan.

I'll be putting 2 in at the front, but I'm confused when it comes to the side fan. I've looked at all the threads across the internet involving this case and it's side panel but I'm none the better for it. It's completely split opinion, some say this side panel would be best as intake drawing cool air onto the GPU, some say it would be best as exaust to avoid interrupting already good air flow and help in pulling hot air out of the case which would be more effective, and some say it's best to simply seal off the vent without a fan.

I'm clueless as to what I should do.

Easy - do some testing. Try the fans setup in each of the suggested solutions and see what you get. I have no front or side fans in mine and the temp ranges have been 44 to 78C idle to load (in summer).

No bother :D

Best to keep the airflow going through the case front > Back

The side fan will just interfere imo

btw what fans you got in the front? I was considering 2 more tricool's but I'm not decided yet. I want something WITH BLUE LED's :D that shifts a good amount of air but is also importantly quiet

Got a pair of enermax clusters (white led) on the front of my 300. They look pretty damn awesome and perform pretty well. Deific, they do a blue led version although ocuk dont stock any enermax 120mm fans

Cheers, Akasa AK-274CB-4BLS 120mm Blue LED Fans are the ones i'll go for :D

Great help guys

I must admit the white LED's in mine look much better than I thought they would but I think thats partly to do with the dust filter making it more of a Grey.

I wonder if I can get more of (just) the dust filter material then use from the Antec 300 from anywhere :)
