Antec 900 Cable Management

Update from previous post.

Reversed the HDDs, lapped CPU and re-orientated the Tuniq & slapped a Yate Loon on there! :D

So I dragged myself to B&Q and bought a 25mm Hole saw and associated mandril, three metal files (half moon and x2 differing grades) and magnetically tipped pozi-drive and straight tipped screwdrivers to help deal with those awkward MB screws. All this for under £20, yes yes I am a tight git but I couldn't justify spending >£60 for a dremel when that could be better put towards go-faster hardware! :)

Tools from B&Q as above seen below :D

I presume you are asking about the case model. I think mine is the Rev 1 model. It certainly didn't ship with any pre-cut holes for cable management...

The New version is far better, but not perfect, for instance, a hole by the PSU would have been VERY beneficial, but if you work at it, it is fairly easy to get a relatively good result, just leave it for a month, and every time you hava good idea of where to put that cable ETC, write it down and then after like a month or something, do them all at once.

Notice any temp differences in different orientation? How did you have it before? Ive got mine blowing towards the top fan, just wondering if its the best for cooling. Im going to lap my CPU (possibly the Tuniq too) and carry out the bolt on mod for my motherboard, so will be pulling it all to bits very soon.

I thought it would've been the way ive got it  Based on the fact heat rises and all, with the large fan at the top of the case, and the CPU fan both blowing out the top thought it wouldve been the best for air circulation.

Any reason the above method is best? I know its blowing out the back of the case, but seems to me like it would be interfering with the flow of the top fan.

It's used because the cool air is flowing from right to left and not bottom to top.

It would be pretty easy to try both but this is the method is used for my old setup and if you look around 90% of people on here are using it.

Fair point, will give it a try :) I think im going to move one of the drive cages to the top and have a fan on both ends to direct air straight to the cpu cooler then :)

edit: just done the above, moved a cage to the top with a fan at both ends to create a wind tunnel effect, and its reduced my core temps by 6-7 degrees on full load  Also seems to be cooling the PWM by 7 degrees too, which is good as it was getting alittle high previously.

Once i lap my CPU and cooler and rotate the tuniq to blow out of the back, i expect even better results!

Think I might order my PSU now so I know what to do to alter my 900 when I eventually get my CPU and GPU, I just got a Formula Rampage today so I'd like the inside to look good when it's up and running..

Same setup I am running as below in rubbish night time pic.

Excellent cooling from front to rear over RAM, NB (by top front case fan) and CPU (TT now re-orientated) and exhaust to the rear. Any latent case heat is exhausted from the bottom through the PSU and through the top monster fan. Load temps do not exceed 59C @ 3.4GHz (1.5v) or 69C @ 3.6GHz (1.65v!:D)

The two HDDs are cooled by the middle fan.

Optical drive and multi card reader live in bottom two slots.

Ive left one of my cages at the bottom as in the middle it gets abit tight with the motherboard, graphics card and hard disks. Will probably be easier once ive drilled some holes for cable tidying. Really want to mount the hard disks the opposite way round as it looks a lot neater, just whether i can be bothered as the pc will be in bits for a day or two as it is.

Either way, definately works a lot better in this configuration so im chuffed!
