Antec 900 Good but few pointers

would my asrock 939 board fit fine with that case with my x1900xt?

also let us know if you can close the side panel of the case with the hr-03 and a 12cm fan on that x1900 card. looks like a good case to get for me.

right just placed the order for the case. shoudl be here on thursday. wish i ordered it earlier on in the day, then it would have arrived tomorrow. :(

will your side fan be an intake or an exhaust?

just wondering since its over the cpu and gfx card from the pics. hard to tell what would be best method.

also im gonna use the arctic cooling 12cm fans in that case. they give more airflow/noise ratior.

Because the Arctic Fan 12 is an open design like the one on the AC Freezer Pro (that's a 92mm AC Fan 9) and they can only be mounted in one direction and they cannot be reversed hence - if he has to mount it inside the case then it's going to blow out the way. Phew!

The picture below shows an AC Fan 12 fitted into the Patent Cooling bracket from a Lian Li case. As you can see - the screw holes only go in one way and that means the fan is restricted in how it can be mounted. You have to use the special short screws that AC provide with the fan.

the above fan you have in the picture is the same type but 9cm version i have on my hr-03. the 12cm arctic cooling fans i have are the regular design type ones here is the link to which ones i have:

got few of them now since they are real cheapo at £3.40p per fan from my local pc parts shop. thinking of wandering on down there to pick up more fans so that i have 4 or 5 of these 12cm fan in the antec case. never really liked the antec tri cool fans, on low they are quiet but hardly push any air. and on high speed they make a noise and still not pushing out a lot of air compared to akasa ambers or these arctic cooling fans.

and the fluid dynamic bearings and 6 year warranty means that i should just fit and forget these fans and not have to worry about them ever again.

got a packet load of the tri-cool 12cm fans, will probably sell them on the members market.

im gona want to fit a side fan aswell though, so is this going to be a problem
Nah mate it won't be a problem. I've fitted a 120mm asaka amber (as an intake) and there's still over an inch of space between the fan and card. The fitting is also a screwless design so the fan just clips on without any fuss.

TBH the A900 wasn't even in my list of top 5 cases that I were originally looking at. The main reasons why I bought it over a more sophisticated (none gamer) case is, I knew it would house a 8800gtx and its cooling performance is second to none when compaired to any other case in the same price bracket = my budget. The only downside is that I'll have to keep on top of the inevitable dust build up, hence I've ordered x4 120mm fan filters to help me out.

I haven't tried those - I tend to use YS-Techs or Ambers for inlet fans and the AC Fan 12 for the exhaust. If you can get one, then you should definitely try one. They should also only be £3-£4.

akasa amber fans i have used in the past but their price is too high, more than double the cost of a arctic cooling fan. thats why i have made the switch over to AC fans and thier 6 year warranty and fluid dynamic bearings just seal the deal.

After you recommended them I got 2 and I like them :D

which ones did you get?

also my antec 900 turned up today, fitted everything in, and all i can say is that its brilliant. love it 100% has dropped case temps considerably.

im using 2 arctic cooling 12cm fans for intake and one for the exhaust, the 20cm fan is set to medium since its silent at that speed, at high i can hear it pushing the air through, but low and medium sound the same to me so i left it on medium.

no side intake fan cuz there is no space above the gfx card for it to fit. asrock board has the pci-e slot in a silly place.

only noise i can hear is the wooshing of the air which is not annoying but the raptors sound is amplified and the seek noises i can hear, then again my old case was using sound deadening.

these AC 12cm fans shift loads more air through compared to the akasa ambers i have.

You can just flip the bracket that holds the fan on the Lian Li though :)

Indeed smarty-pants, but what about the front fan? I was looking at getting a bracket with a spacer made up as the back of the fan fits in the hole at the front, but it fouls the switch panel unless you pull it forward 1cm. I've gone off fans completely now and WelshTom is going to build me a new, completely passively cooled V600 case in the new year when I've saved up for it :D

As for the front fan... well the airflow is reversed in mine and the rear can be put on the outside :D Those fans would be well suited for the way I have my case set up.
