Its shipped from OcUK - should be here tomorrow (ordered a week or so back, stock only just come in), looking forward to this case (if only I can get MCE Guide to play ball)...

Just need Hauppauge to release the NOVA-T-500MCE dual freeview card now.

price looks steep to me! or is that how much HTPC cases typicaly are?

nice looking but not my thing, i prefer the silverstone HTPC ranges

It looks the same as my Panasonic AV-Receiver - so its ideal - and should be very quiet - with room to be improved if required. It has lots of silicone washers to remove noise - as well as two slow 120mm fans.

Going to put the Asrock K8NF4G-SATA2 and Turion ML-40 @ 2.6GHz into it - along with a 250GB HD and DVD burner.

I'll post the usual nekked photos of whats in the box :D

bought it on auction from HK for £99 - bought 11pm Tuesday, arrived in jiffy bag first thing on saturday am - excellent. Its an ML - so not as low power/heat as a MT, but still less than 1/2 a full A64/Semperon - and 1MB cache too :D.

Its arrived - not had time tonight to do anything, will do pics in a day or two.

But it looks good from a quick scan of it and the contents - the case and psu (not the modular NeoHE 430w as the shop site used to say (mysteriously changed now)), thin multi-language manual (for the case), case-connections wiring diagram, cd-rom containing antec modified imon software, bag of screws, blanking plate for one of the 120mm fans and 3 or 4 extensions for a baffle to force air over the cpu cooler. Lots of rubber and sillicone pads for feet/hd-mounts and other possibly noisy/rattly places.

Some pics of the bare case - most are approx 60KB (sorry modem'ers)

First - the outside

On top are CD of imon s/w, manual, 3yr warranty, wiring-pinnout, fan-blanking plate (black on black!!) and bag of screws + power cable.

Then the inside

Notice the holes between the 3 bays for cables - with the power one having a slidable cover to keep it small and tight!!

to be continued...

Part 2:-

The bottom...

The front feet are the black rubber ones - the rear ones are white sillicone - really squishy

And for the carboard fans, the box (the last side had shipping sticker to OcUK - this was parcel 58 of 65 in the delivery):-

Working here, looking good although it is annoying that only two of the feet are high quality ones!

Just this huge thing that bugs me everytime I see the case.

How you find it without a system in, any chance of a picture next to some seperates gear?

Thats for a reason. Normally you will have it at a setup so you only see the front, so thats why the 2 front feet are for show, and the two rear ones are there to soak up the vibrations in-case any vibrations occur. A great move IMO.

I think this is the best HTPC case you can get. The cooling, construction and looks are spot on! Also the price!

bloody *nix case-sensitive filenames! Roll on the dark ages!

Working now, very nice :)

I think the case would look nicer if the display was in the centre and the ROM was on the left, aligned with the ROM and the USB etc was in the centre at the bottom.

Although the bare, brushed metal is very sleek, maybe it wouldn't :p

Need to clear out the LHS - to put xbox 360 on a shelf and clear some of the cables at the back out a bit - since I just stuck it in there this minute for you.

Thats a 37" JVC by the way - the amp to the right on the bottom - similar looking to the fusion - is a Panasonix XR55 (or something like that) digital amp.

It looks right at home there :D

What's the other gear? I spy: DVD, DVD-R, set-top box & VHS?

Are you going to need the DVD anymore?

TOP - JVC LT-37DS6-BJ
LHS - xbox 360, empty fusion :D
RHS - ntl pace 1000, hitachi VHS/DVD-combo, Samsund HD850 (HDMI) DVD, Panasonic XR55
Speakers - Tannoy FX5.1

Slight DVD overkill - 4 DVD players (until PS3 comes along) - will likely get rid of Samsung HD850 and keep VHS/DVD until NTL get their HD/PVR out (and their fingers out too) so the HTPC will do the freeview recording and the vhs can do the ntl stuff for now.

No, the feet are there as 4x HiFi feet cost a lot more, cutting corners and I never like that in a case.

If it was to soak up vibrations, then all the feet would have to be the same style, or it just would not work.

Looks right at home, although is it slightly wider than the rest of your gear?
