For hiking the best thing (in my opinion of course) is to get a pair of decent medium thickness hiking socks e.g. Bridgedale, and use a thin sock liner underneath. It means the socks are rubbing against each other rather than directly on your foot. I don't think ive had a single blister this way.

Also decent tape on your feet and keeping them as dry as possible, talc them and keep them clean you'll be fine.
