What would you say would be the best all-in-one scanner to keep your computer safe. I know that I won't get a definitive answer so it will be nice if you could say why etc it would be nice.

Do you mean all in one, or do you mean anti-malware, there is a big difference, also there is no good all in one no matter what the wonderful reviews say.
Malwarebytes will remove most malware, it is rather effective, however, not getting infected is a better course of action.
A virus scanner will also be needed, and for this it should help prevent some forms of infection.
Kaspersky is good, but now is a complete resourse hog. And possibly one of the slowest scanners in the entire known universe.
MSE is a decent free non resource hogging alternative.

There is an entire thred on this, which should probably be deleted so an up to date one can be generated.

Ive never required an anti-spyware /malware application... I find them a little pointless. If you're reckless on the internet then, yes, get one, but if you're careful, generally you'll be ok without.

Anyways - Microsoft Security Essentials. Get this. I've read many reviews and seen many benchmarks that have clearly stated that this is the best anti-virus / firewall out there. It also has a good UI and is easy to follow.

Thanks for all the replys, regarding all-in-one, I mean't that I didn't want to have 2 different programs both for different things which both take up resources, and think that if I only have one program it's easier to manage and update etc.

I can't remember the last time I had a virus, so maybe using two isn't really the most efficient for my needs (only go on for general browsing and games mostly). I think I'll go with MSE, it's by Microsoft so will --hopefully-- not have any comparability issues or bugs in the near future.

Again, thanks for all the replies,
Oliver

MSE sits quietly in the background
MWB is run on demand, so it actually uses zero resources until you choose to run it and do a sweep, this should be suitable for your requirements.
