Motorcyclist protests against helmets by riding without helmet. Hits head. Dies.

why are motorcycle helmets compulsory? if no risk is posed to 3rd parties and riders are willing to pay for their own medical care, why can't they choose?

The NHS pays regardless so the cost is carried by us all. And if they are accidentally killed in an RTC do you think the survivor will sleep any better knowing the rider chose not to wear a helmet? Think the guilt will be any less?
