Hi All,

Been a while since I've had a proper gaming build.. recently got a new PC and along with it came a Zotac RTX 4070 which is pretty chunky thing (not as big as others but!!)

It didn't come with any sort of Anti Sag Bracket as seems to be the thing with the bigger 40/50 series card,

Are they worth it for Longevity? main issue I have is I have case fans along the bottom of my case.

Any advice?

yes they are worth it for peace of mind if a GPU is very heavy, GPU`s are incredibly expensive when paired with decent mobo as well

I didn't have one for 4 years on my 3090, I could see it sagging a tiny bit but it never effected performance or resulted in anything bad.

definitely worth it...but you need to get a bracket that looks nice

or get the anti-sag stand instead, which are usually cheaper
i bought my stand for £1 from china

Absolutely worth it.

I couldn't put a foot on my case floor so like @Quartz I bought something similar to the lian li ones that attach to the motherboard standoffs - I couldn't actually get that to fit on my case since in my case my standoffs were imperial not metric - so instead I drilled my case and attached it near the motherboard and it's worked perfectly.

Been running a sag bracket scince the evga 3090ti I had, well worth it as cards these days are getting bigger.

I'd say any card that has a cooler over 1kg in weight needs some kind of support if mounted horizontally. Longer PCBs are also more prone to warping and cracking the solder under the memory modules or the GPU die itself.

However, consider supporting the middle of the card rather than just the far end. Propping up the far end can, especially on longer cards, lead to twisting and bending in the middle as per the repair video theorises below.

This may be due to people propping up the cards too high, or the far end support moves the sag to the centre of the card where the memory modules and GPU die are located. These cards are so expensive now it's worth thinking about this carefully, or trying to mount it vertically.

They are a good idea imo.
A lot of cards come with one - powercolor 7900xt does and is a decent one.(some can interfere with fans in the bottom of the case so be wary!)

I have an anti sag bracket, sat on my desk.

I fitted it but after some fiddling it didn't make the cut.
4 years later my gpu is fine

3090rtx for reference.

I have 1 somewhere but don't know where it is, might try to find it, my 5080 seems ok, will likely look for it soon though.

for my 3080 i had one, ive seen issues where coolers have become loose over time due to vibrations on screws and the weight of the gpu pulling down, 4090 fe didnt need one cause its got that metal xframe and a 3 slot pci bracket
