I used to always touch the raditor before Id begin (then my dad bought me a wrist band 
), the chances of frying some hardware are slim but it does happen, and chances are you could return it as DOA without the supplier asking any questions.
Bottom line is you dont need to splash out on a wrist strap but for the sake of 2 seconds of leaning over to a raditor or whatever is it really worth risking.
