... is pretty amazing stuff.

One of those things that was predicted by a brilliant mind (Paul Dirac) by solving equations and then discovered in the real world years later.

I wonder whether we'll see antimatter used as a fuel source within any of our lifetimes?

I find it amazing how much energy is released by antimatter.
1kg of the stuff would produce enough energy to run the entire UK for almost 2 months, or about 3000 times as much as the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

It's the ultimate clean fuel source, no waste - just pure energy.
It's just a pity we have no way of producing it in any sort of quantities for it to be realisticly used as fuel at the moment.

I can't see it seeing as it's the single most expensive material on the planet and costs $60 Trillion to make a single gram of it.

That and it instantly destroys any matter that it comes into contact with...

Meh, I've got loads.

Problem with anti-matter is that it takes a lot more energy to make than it contains.

Shame you can't just dig it out of the ground.
