Do i need one? is the question if so which?

Currently Running pc in sig, using Vista64Bit
Kaspersky internet secruity suite
Firefox+adblock+noscript

only downloads i do are game patches which i get from Gamershell.

would kaspersky be suffiicent or would i need another?

im just wondering :)

It couldn't do any harm, i've found in my experience each spyware tool finds different things..

I use, adaware, spybot search and destroy, ccleaner, malwarebytes and spyblaster

Your setup is good as it stands along with sensible browsing you should be fine.

But it wouldn't hurt to have a couple for on demand scanning, add Malware bytes and SuperAntispyware to your setup both run great under Vista x64 and dont impact your system and between them they find and remove most spyware/malware etc

Your setup looks fine. KIS supposedly contains an antispyware module, and you're using noscript too. As a gamer, the last thing you need is another realtime scanner grinding away.

Just don't go clicking on popups on dodgy websites, eh?

I used to use a lot of anti-malware products, but just use Kaspersky AV, along with Firefox and Ad Block Plus & NoScript. Haven't been infected yet.

Probably the number one rule is just don't execute any untrusted files (eg. .exe).

Another product which looks promising is PrevX Edge, but this only uses an on-line databse, so you have to be connected to the Internet to use it. It's also a little bit slow when executing an app for the first time as it has to analyse it and then check on-line to see if it's safe. Subsequent attempts will be quicker if the file doesn't change as it stores a hash.

OMG! Just install Linux for goodness sake! :)

I can't believe what Windows users have to do to secure a system :(

Well that's gaming gone up the ****per for starters then :p

P.S. On a serious note, most of the things NoScript protects you from effect Linux the same. And the way I see it if Windows gets infected at least you have a chance to know it is! I could be keylogging your Linux machine right now and you'd have little chance of detecting it ;)

P.P.S. I like Linux too, but you posted that in the Windows Forum :p
