Hi
Its simple I need help to decide which software to get it's between Nortons 2005
which is what I am using at the moe but I all so have McAfee internet security 2006 but can not decide which one to use.
Any one have some advice, but it must be between these 2 programs it's a money thing.

I did have to fdisk and reinstall everything back last month because a worm had got past norton and it could not be removed by any of the nortons stuff, it seen the infection but could not do anything about it, so I have douts about nortons..
but I have never used McAfee so I dont know how good it is.

Thank's
D

I prefere myself to go with AVG Free & Windows Firewall

And Windows Defender for Spyware.

But if you insist on one of the resource hogs i would for McAfee as Norton is just total crap.

mcaffee and norton are both really crap becuase they slow your system down so much
I agree with your view on Norton as I've run it myself but have been using McAfee anti-virus for over 3 years and it doesn't slow my PC down but the scans are a bit slow I will admit.
Fortunately I don't run them that often say weekly.

ive been doing some firewall / antivirus / spyware testing

imo
best firewall - Zone Alarm Pro followed by tiny personal firewall
(both passed all trojan / audit / leak tests)

best antivirus - bit defender 9 followed by kaspersky antivirus
(4400 viruses / malicious threts detected)

best spyware package - counter spy / webroot spysweeper
(detected most threats)

just my 2p worth

Whatever you do, don't go for McAfee or Norton. I used to use Norton and it really slowed my computer down, plus it was really intrusive too. I use NOD32 and Kerio Personal Firewall which work very nicely.

I run Mcafee Enterprise 8.0 and I have to say I like it. I have run Norton in the past and found it to be lacking. Virus's some how find way onto system even with lates updates. Plus you have to go to Norton site to get some of them removed as software installed wont do it. Even Mcafee Home & + versions out-perform Norton in my opinion.

If I were u I would go Mcafee. :)

Norton/Mcafee pro/Corp editions ive used both... much better then there retail purpleworld counterparts, but even then id say skip both of them.

Even AVG would be a better choice if it detects a virus/spyware that it cant delete use kill box to aid you.

ewido/spbot/adware 1.6/spysweeper seem top favs atm

Id suggest really though keeping your windows up to date with AVG up to date and weekly spybot scan.

Having said all that Spyaxe malware is hitting all PCs around the world and no easy fixes yet ;) So common sense and closing popups/watching what gets downloading is vital.

How about antivirus and firewall for windows 64 I have found a couple of free ones and some beta's but AVG 7.1 is happy with win 64 got the 30 trail once thats up I will try some thing else till I find a good software at a Reasonable price.
When I read reviews about all the diffrent A+F software I find that they all have diffrent issues if they combined them all together they'd hit the nail on the head.

I don't bother with installing firewall software on my home network PC's.An antivirus program like NOD32, regular spyware scans and the Firewall on the router is more than sufficent.

Some people are just far too paranoid with outbound traffic.

they do, you just might not notice it

best way to test performance is on a p3 500 machine or something similar, and install different combinations to see which fair as the best.

My current opinion on such items:

Firewall - Kerio or Outpost
Antivirus - Avast or Bitdefender
Antispyware - Counterspy or Ewido

:)
