Antworks question

As a surprise, Sharon just bought me an Antworks thingy, with the lights to go underneath. Ain't she nice

I remember reading on here that garden ants are a bit lazy - were they black or red ones? (we have loads of red buggers in the garden).

I want to order the ones that are recommended, but can;t wait that long. If I start it off with some reds from the garden, can I then add the new ones next week, or is that a problem?

I think it'll be a problem, plus do you not need the queen to start of as well.

Order some from Antworks. If you mix two species you'll have a messy war.

Apparantly not. There is a kit to go and catch your own ants. Pretty unlikey that you'll catch the queen, without digging up a nest.

Have fun catching the red ants, you do realise they can bite/sting?
