its staggering how many people actually base what car they buy on this! The amount of people in work that i have heard saying "oh i went with the diesel because its low road tax and more Mpgzzz"They are that stupid that they dont realise over the years they will own the car the DPF's and other crap will cost far more than any of these savings.
Some woman actually bought a 9yr old diesel A4 to travel 5 minutes to work and back in she based the purchase on the fact it was a "nice Black Audi with low tax". Its just failed its MOT in spectacular fashion and has set her back over 1k in bills in around 18 months that she has owned it. My 3.0 V6 Mondeo that everyone claimed will cost a fortune in fuel has cost me £0 so far in bills so i would say i am still ahead in terms of overall savings even though her car is supposed to get 50mpg.
