Any Buddhists here?

I've found a Buddhist centre nearby, I'll be visiting them tomorrow.

There a few other concepts that havent been mentioned, such as nirvana, multiple lives\reincarnation, and other key principles but I'll post back once I've actually spoken to a monk because wiki etc arent the best source on this.

If you were brought up a Christian but have given up on all organised religion - like me - whilst still having that nagging feeling that maybe there is a god, I would recommend reading "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsh.

Doesn't make you a bible basher, in fact probably makes you less religious whilst letting you believe that there is a god.

I was raised in a Roman Catholic school but from an early age spotted the inconsistencies and power/control tendancies in the religion. Coupled with the fact that a lot of the crap they teach is observably wrong, made me dump the church at the age of 12 as soon as I moved to a secular Grammar school.

I still get to believe there is a god out there, somewhere beyond our ability to comprehend but now know that he's not going to ride to my rescue every time something goes wrong and that my life is in *my* hands.

:D
