Hello all

Looking at upgrading by buying the below items, can anyone cast an eye over it for any glaring compatibility problems or areas i can save money? 16GB of RAM is needed for work stuff, but otherwise its mainly a gaming PC. No heavy over clocking, after cool and quiet mainly (also simple installation!)

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** B3 REVISION **
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) x 2
Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/LGA2011/AM2/AM3
Corsair 600T case
128GB SSD
+ already have two SATA HDD's and an existing Corsair HX620 PSU, will that cope with the new build?

Edit- Forgot to add i have a ATI 5850 1GB from previous build to use

Thanks all

Well I can't see anything wrong with that ^^ (but then again, im not exactly a tech expert)

And looking at it all that PSU should be able to handle it!

Would that be really worth it if he wasnt doing too much overclocking?

What about the three extra features you get from the Z68 chipset. Plus it will be worth that bit more if he comes to sell it as it has more features than a P67 chipset board.

Good spot, how about this?

Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard [90-MIBGC0-G0AAY00Z]

Thanks for the help so far both.

Or that board.

The Gigabyte may look better in the case as its all Black and dark Grey:D

Sorry, like i said im not an expert, I was just asking that for my own knowledge really... :(

Ah thats ok,

The Z68 boards have,

Lucid Virtu - switches between the GFX card and the GFX on the CPU, this saves power when not playing games.

Quciksync - This uses the GFX in the CPU to speed up encoding times for say video editing programs.

IRT (ssd caching) - this uses a small SSD to cache the HDD with the OS/apps installed on to, speeding up the access times.

You also get display outputs on the rear of the board which enables you to still use the PC if the graphics card dies/sell it etc.

Right

Updated Spec - let me know what you think (stulid you are probably right about the gigabyte, but i cant buy anything else other than Asus, they have served me too well!!!)
