Guys am looking to buy a new mobile phone soon due to the screen being cracked on my old Samsung note 9
So I was thinking I may try an iPhone for the first time as I already own multi iPads & an 4k ATV,
Plus it would make a change to try something different.

But I only really want an iPhone if it has USB-C

Probably won’t be a new iPhone released until September 2023. USB-C would be nice but only to speed up file transfers between iPhone and PC. Charging speed is already improved with the USB-C to lightning cable.

Curious as to why?

AirDrop is plenty fast enough as it's peer to peer. USB-C transfer rates won't help much here.
It just the pain of needing yet another kind of charging cable when just about everything else uses USB-C or Micro USB

it seems stupid that apple use USB C on there iPad Pro’s, iPad Air , macbooks etc but not on there iPhones

They’ve used lightning for years, I rarely use the port anyway, I nearly always use wireless charging.
I know apple normally a year or 2 behind other brands for there mobile phone tech

I use wireless charging at home 95% of the time for my note 9

But it when am away from home i always use cable charging..

Early next year?

Absolutely zero chance of that whatsoever. It's only been a couple of months since the iPhone 14 was launched.

The earliest possibility of an iPhone with USB-C is late September next year and I'll be surprised if that happens.

Then just use the included lightning cable that comes with the phone? Hardly the end of the world.

Currently looking for a Windows alternative to Airdrop, there are some apparently but I’m finding it complicated to work out.

Is airdrop something where you can transfter files to a PC by wireless ?
Yes but it only works on macs, I’m looking for a Windows alternative. I just setup iCloud on my PC and that’s one way to get access to my photos without having to plug into USB but it’s not particularly fast.
