Any dates for Doom 4?

Doesnt seem to have been demo'd at Quake Con, but wiki suggests it will be out before Rage, anyone have anymore info on it? Will we see it early next year?
 
this is my most awaited game been checking for any info on it for ages and nothing seems they just getting rage ready :(

Damn, does anyone remember demo discs that were CDs, from PC Gamer? Those things were the shizzle.

I remember when demo's came on tapes, ah the good old days ..... feeling old now:(

Got loads of specy stuff, thinking of putting it on the MM and seeing if people are interested.
 
Unfortunately there was no media info at Quakecon this year. Carmack was unable to release any info about it. If Rage is coming out September 2011 (which it is) then I'd expect Doom 4 in 2012.

More importantly :D Where the hell is John Carmack's keynote speech video?!? I can't find it any where. Gutted. :(
 
I remember demo tapes and also game compilations on tapes. with each of those, you had to load the first game/demo, make a note of the tape counter, then do the same for the rest of the tape so that you could play which demos you wanted later on.
 
I used to have to make a note of the volume my tape player was on so I could play my games.

Each game required a different volume which was one of 9 and the only way to find out which was trial and error....:(
 
I remember the tape fun fondly, i am glad my dad ended up getting a BBC Micro A modified to a B and also some disk drives lol saved a lot of that stress.

I do miss that tape noise just how i miss the sound of my 56K modem dialing :).

I also have a bunch of spectrum stuff in a box, I don't know what i am going to do with it all lol.

Interesting that 4 is going to be more like doom 1 and 3 rather than 3. I liked them all so it will be good to see what they come up with.
 
I will attempt to beat you all with a cover record! Literally a record taped to a magazine, you then copied whatever track was for your computer (it was multi-format!!) onto a tape and stuck the tape into the tape player for your machine. Suffice to say it didn't work (probably our gramophone was too slow!) but what an idea!
 
I believe they're waiting on their team of scriptwriters to finish up - complicated storylines take some time to produce.

That seems odd. All prior comments have suggested that Doom 4 will be finished after Rage. I'm willing to bet (only virtual money) that this is a mistake.

I'd love to be wrong though.

But we do know a fair bit about rage - all we know about doom 4 is that id are working on it. Nothing about the story, or gameplay. No marketing at all. Which is odd if it's a game that they are gearing up to finish and release.
 
Before Rage does give them a year though. I seem to remember that a year before release, Doom 3 was still clouded in secrecy.

I firmly believe we'll see some news about Doom 4 in the new year, then the media machine will gather pace for a summer release. It's not like iD generally have a lot of bugs to squash out, so beta shouldn't be extensive.

I don't see why it shouldn't ship before Rage.
