I've decided it's time I had better skin, I'm 23 and never really bothered too much, I shave every 4/5 days, wash every morning with what ever soap is around and shower at night. Occasionally I'll moisturise if I come across some.

My skin is kind of oily after a while but dries out if I do much about it, I'd say the main issue would be the large pores.

I've just bought a Dermalogica Clean Start kit and we'll see what that does for me, the mrs uses dermalogica and is a fan so we'll see.

I'm not after a proper routine, nobody's got time for that just something a little more than a bar of soap.

Anybody had previous experiences or knowledge to share?

:)

I haven't used that Dermalogica stuff, but I'm fairly convinced that putting things like that on your face (particularly Clearasil) does more harm than good. Your skin has a natural balance and you can probably achieve it just by washing your face with water a few times a day.

soap can dry the skin, try using an exfoliator every now and again and a proper face wash, i use kiehls stuff and that is pretty good.

I tend not to was my face using soap/surfactants these days... I find warm water with mechanical exfoliation (facial flannel etc) + moisturiser after seems to work well for me... If I wash with soap my face gets very oily.

I use Dermalogica sometimes but it's expensive. I have a bottle of the face wash and the daily microfoliant powder. The microfoliant powder is pretty good but cost 50 a bottle.

The main brand I use is Paula's Choice (they sell in the UK now). I use the facewash, sometimes the microfoliant, then 1% BHA liqiuid, then tiny amount of retinol serum, then Nuetrogena "visibly even" SPF moisturizer. At night I use paula's choice moistuizer instead of SPF. Sometimes I use toner after the face wash if my face was very grimy.

About once a week I do a french green clay mask, and sometimes a Biore nose pore strip.

I have some 5% and 10% AHA glycolic acid exfoliant samples I am haven't tried yet. If I like it I will probably do the 10% once a week.

The most useful thing out of the bunch I'd say is the 1 or 2% BHA salycic acid.

This is what I'd recommend for a routine:

Sensitive skin face wash, of a quality brand.
2% BHA (salycic acid).
Nuetrogena visibly even SPF moisturizer (morning)
Any high quality face moisturizer, dermatologica, clinique, etc. (night)

Dermalogica produce good and proven skin care routine products. I enjoy the Daily Clean Scrub as it makes the most obvious visual difference. Their moisturiser range is also worthy of note.

Erm... Man up and let your skin be whatever it wants to be.

As a Man, I use plain soap on my face, as with the rest of my body, once a day. I cannot understand this newly evolved male preoccupation with beauty; I blame the Loreal Men Expert range and Pierce Brosnan.

Dermalogica have a proven track record in providing skin solutions and whilst you might believe this is something that only 'sissies' care about, you've completely ignored the question raised by the OP 9 posts above your own.

Just use the cheapest nivea facewash I find and cheapest nivea moisturiser.

Unless the missus is around (I work away so don't see her much). Which means I get to use all her expensive creams and face wash/scrubs. :p

The wife uses it as she has very sensitive skin on her face, she thinks it is fantastic. Expensive but she finds other moisturisers (even though they say sensitive) do sometimes sting her skin a bit.

Dudes asking how to make his skin like a womans.

The destiny of human males has always worried me.

With all the men with long hair, using makeup products, wanting smooth skin, wearing hosiery under jeans, Justin Bieber, etc.

Soon enough the manly-man history has depicted will become extinct. :(
