Hi, I am looking at buying the 2TB version of the Samsung 990 Pro.

There are 2 listings on Amazon, which show the same 2TB drive but with slightly different model numbers and also about a £20 difference in price.

The model numbers and links are:
  • V9P2T0B/AM
  • MZ-V9P2T0BW

Does anyone know if there is any difference between them, and if I am better getting a particular one?

Linking to products OcUK sell on a competitor is against forum rules.

According to Google the only difference may be warranty. There may be some difference in NAND type but I can't see anything definite on that.

From what I could see online, AM means intended for American markets and W means worldwide.

This appears to be backed up by the following:
- US retailers specify the product code as: AM.
- European retailers specify the product code as W.
- The retailer you linked to does not have any official listing under the AM code for the UK market.

So far as I'm aware, Samsung don't honour warranties if you buy it in a different region to where it was intended, so I'd be very cautious of any seller selling one under an AM listing.

Given the large number of fakes around, I wouldn't trust third party sellers in general, including any official listing on that place where there are also third party offers that fulfil through them on the same product page.

Sorry i can't help on the differences between them

But i bought one of the 2TB 990 pro MZ-V9P2T0BW drives last year which am using as my main C drive

Check the firmware is up to date before using it and you'll be fine.
Those prices aren't the best though, I paid £243 for 2 of them last year.

(and I wouldn't trust Amazon enough to buy *any* components)

First model number has omitted the MZ designator as all Samsung SSD should come with MZ (M = memory, Z = SSD)

The letters after the numbers are B for boxed and AM for Americas, W for world.
