Any DSL broadband providers where I don't need to take out a landline phone contract too?

Got Vodafone upto 80mb last night for 28a month and 90 cashback. Everyone is line rental included anyway.

Had I been a voda mobile customer it would be 26 a month.

I have missed a load of posts, so I might be spewing my usual waffle of ignorant tripe here, but I asked many years ago about having internet ONLY phone line, or just an incoming line, to help lower the bills, and they told me ( I am sure it was BT at the time ) but they said that you have to have outgoing call capabilities as connecting to the internert requires the Modem to dial out, even Broadband needs to dial ZERO.

I assume that not that much will have changed regarding that point.

even Broadband needs to dial ZERO

If it did you wouldn't be able to use phone and broadband at the same time like with 56k modems of old. AFAIK it doesn't work like that - the digital signals are filtered off (distribution frame to DSLAM or MSAN) before the switching bit used to direct voice calls.

Unfortunately my knowledge on this is over a decade old now so someone can probably provide better information on the modern implementation.
