Hi, I have been looking for insurance quotes for my intended insurance group 18 purchase and have pulled up a good quote on the Elephant site. Should I avoid or are they a good company if I need to make a claim?
I am looking for good but cheap insurance not cheap and nasty.

Cheers, PeterT.

Aren't they the same company as Admiral? if so you should be fine (I'm with Elephant myself and so is my girlfriend so I hope they're ok!)

Well I have been with them a year and my dads been using them for a while and they seem fine.

Always very speedy sending stuff out and they are part of admiral so they are a major insurer.

Im just about to take out a policy with elephant, as they are insuring me for the same price as my old car on my new car, whereas tesco wanted to double it.

They like to phone you up loads.

We see you didnt choose to have a hire car, blah blah blah would you like one for just £24 blah blah.

I dont know how many time I have to tell them I have 2 cars and I dont need a hire car as I can use my other car.

ive been with them for 3 years, had to make a claim 2 months ago for a fault accident. Everything was dealt with very quickly.

i was with them for 3 years and had 2 non fault accidents. both were dealt with fine. got the money in good time :)

Their legal policy bundled with the insurance was worth its weight in gold for me. Didn't have to pay my excess (£500) after a non fault accident, was delivered a hire car with no fuss at all. Very impressive.

However come renewal time the cost of my insurance with elephant has been raised by £100 due to this non fault accident :(

best insurance company i have ever used.

Pay out on claims, cheap admin charges, friendly helpful staff and they seem to LIKE sportier cars.

Dont hesitate

was with them for a year after becoming a new driver.. no problems, friendly, no hassle communications... would have done business with again (if they had 'quoted me happy' for the 2nd year ;) :p)

I've got my Elise insured with Elephant - they were by far the best mainstream quote I found after quite a bit of research. Very helpful all round so it would seem they do 'like' sportier cars. Not too sure what the sting would be for any upgrades/mods though, prolly fairly hefty I'd guess...

not sure, surprised me to find out they dont offer much of a hike (if any) for imported cars, so maybe a mod wouldnt affect it much?? It also made me chuckle that they offer no discount for a tracker "doesnt stop it getting stolen in the first place" was their response!

going to do a Exhaust and induction mod to my Celica TSport, so i guess i'll find out soon enough (want >200BHP at the wheels ideally)

Same here with my Elise.. much cheaper than any other mainstream places.

Elephant are fine but you cannot make monthly payments, you must pay the full premium up front. They also do not offer like for like cars in the event of an accident, you'll end up with a Micra or similar, however, in most cases your car will be repaired and returned to you within the week!

Give them a shot, I have had no trouble with them at all!

^^^^^^
You can pay monthly, just not online, you have to phone them. I paid in one wedge. :(

Moi aussi. Especially considering my circumstances.

edit: My S1 has Nitrons and a 'sports' exhaust, loaded the premium by about £75.
