Any Elephant horror stories?

They are fine bt you just need to watch out for their renewal prices.

First year was £1200 renewal came though at £1100 the next year. New customer quote on their site was £975. So called them up and told them that and they matched it straight away.

This year was £975 then and renewal has come through at £772, yet on their site the quote is coming up at £623.

You can pay monthly, just not online, you have to phone them. I paid in one wedge. :(

Moi aussi. Especially considering my circumstances.

edit: My S1 has Nitrons and a 'sports' exhaust, loaded the premium by about £75.

I was told you couldnt pay monthly when i rang them, thats the whole reason for them being good value for money

Weird, when I bought my Elise insurance there were icons everywhere saying "Pay Monthly! Call blah"

That'd surprise me - insurance companies make a lot of money out of people paying monthly

I could pay monthly for my Admiral policy (didn't as just took out a larger loan for the car & insurance [cheaper APR]) and I did for my Endsleigh policy - 29.9% APR!!

I used elephant and had to make a claim when my car was written off
they did a couple of things that peved me a little

your insurance policy is cancled when you make a total loss claim

you don't get a courtesy car for any period of time if your car is a total loss

and I had to haggle to get the proper vaule of the car thier first offer of £3200 was a bit of an insult in the end I accepted £4600

That's awfully common though

As an example they offered £1900 for my Astra which was later increased to £2300

Insurance companies will always try to offer you the least they think they can get away with.

Only a few insurers offer a courtesy car after you've written your car off, and only usually for a very short period of time. Mine didn't offer one at all, just like you

Their renewal quote was a joke too - £1500! I can get insured on the 1.6 16V SXI for £900 (more powerful, higher insurance group). Even a group 15 2.6 V6 Audi A4 Quattro will only cost £1200 - this is with declaring the accident and no no claims bonus

I just took out my policy with them today. They are pretty helpful and by far the cheapest, but I couldnt understand a word the bloke was saying, he was speaking way too fast and I had to ask him to keep repeating himself which I dont think he liked, and they do a pretty good service of sending your cover note asap by special next day delivery.
