Bought myself a refurbished iMac 24" from the Apple Store (Ireland) which may arrive on Monday. (And 4Gb of memory elsewhere for it)

Seems most people are happy with the quality of refurbs so I'm hoping I don't get one with a huge dent or loads of scratches on it :D

Anyone had good experiences buying things this way? :)

A few people on here have. They said there was no scratches or anything, they just come in a different box to the standard Apple one.

It will be fine, the refurbs are great prices too

Sigh....my iMac never arrived :(

It was scheduled to arrive today. The UPS tracking said:

"12/31/07 04:30 am
In-transit Scan
Dublin, IE"

So it should have arrived today, but later it changed to:

"
12/31/07 02:20 pm
Receiver Elected To Keep Package
Dublin, IE"

What?

Then it was followed by an equally odd:

"
12/31/07 03:09 pm
Driver Load
Dublin, IE"

Now it's scheduled to arrived on the 7th of January. Damn. :(

Unlucky mate!

I had a package delivered from Apple recently.. actually had a "master" iPod Classic delivered.. was weird because the courier emailed me to say it was ready to collect down the depot (despite signing for it).

..by master I mean it must have been the "1st in the new batch" of iPod Classics, and came with a giant MASTER sticker on the case :D.. week 49 so I'm not complaining.

It arrived! :)

Looks perfect to me, no scratches or anything. It came with Tiger installed and had a Leopard "drop-in" disc. I did an Erase & Install and have Leopard running on it now.

One snag though, it was supposed to have come with iLife 08 and there's no sign of it

Refurbs are often better than new machines. They sometimes come with free upgrades, and I've yet to see one that didn't look like new. Frankly not getting a refurb and paying the extra 15% is madness.
Though beware the generation old refurb stuff that appears is often a complete rip off.

Apple refurbs are great VFM and usually mint with different packaging. I bought a refurb video ipod about a year ago and have had no problems with it.
