Any experience with XFX Revo64 RAID cards?

I bought one a while ago but I've heard one or two people have had problems with RAID sets disappearing occasionally and the original manufacturer of the hardware RAID chipset has gone bust so no support.

Anyone any thoughts before I buy 5 drives for it?

Ta :)

I've got one with 5 x 250gig drives.

Never had a problem...

I wouldn't recommend it for the boot/system drive though... just use it for data storage as it's a bit slow compared to a single drive ..

Just brought one and have 3X 250Gb Samsungs, which will increase to 5 at some point.

Not got around to setting it up yet though, was going to have them in RAID3 using for everything. But since hearing they're slower than one drive for OS i'm not sure what i'll do!! Maybe have them in RAID3 for data and keep my 160Gb Samsung for OS.

Thats what I'd do

Thanks for the replies people :) I guess it's just a few that have had problems. I have a 40Gb IDE drive for boot on the server...planning on it being on 24/7 if I can.

Revo64 has issues with OLD Maxtor drives, many of which can be fixed by upgrading the FW on the Maxtor. Mine (both 5 port and 3 port, latter FS BTW!) worked perfectly with Hitachis as well.
