Any Facebook experts

A few days ago I noticed the number of new posts next to each friend on my friends list are no longer showing.
This is on the web,I don't use the app and it's the same no matter what device I use or the browser....I use Opera and Chrome on Android and Windows 10.
Is it the same for everyone ?

Never noticed it was even there. But its not there now for me.

I've also got what I believe is a Facebook issue.
Full screen ads have suddenly and frequently started popping up on my phone and I'm pretty sure it's Facebook doing it. Whatever I'm looking at, these stupid ads completely cover over it.

Is there a way to stop this?

Sounds like malware... I don't get this.

Thanks. Yeah I found that same page yesterday but I had another read of it today. People suggested pressing the recent apps button left of the home key whenever an ad pops up. I did that and the ad was coming from an app called Peel Remote which I've now disabled. I think the ads have now stopped.
