Any games that develop characters fully and emotions?

I'm looking for some new games but it's hard to find games that I can get into these days, it's all boom bang all over again (cod and battlefield)

One game that I really enjoyed was The Walking Dead (the one that's like a comic strip) because you got to know the characters fully, and in general it was a very sad zombie game.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I know this is the pc forum, but yep - The Last of Us is just superb if you're looking for something like this. Proper grown up gaming where story and emotion seamlessly intertwine without ever trying too hard. Just brilliant.

Pc wise - apart from mass effect, mafia 1 and 2 have a great narrative and feel to them. Dishonoured is a bit different, witcher 2 is good, but perhaps the king is skyrim where you can make your own to a degree.

Coool (we posted @ same time :D)

Is it on Steam?

Heavy rain on ps3 also got me for some reason. Really enjoyed that. Not pc again though sorry. Will have another think....

Alan Wake?? Not brilliant and I didn't play a huge amount of it, but it's story driven by its very nature, and you can probably pick it up for peanuts now.

Dragon Age Origins?

Or if you don't mind a bit of old school, Star Wars Knights of the old Republic

As already mentioned, I think the king of this so far is The Last of Us

On PC, I recently played through Bioshock Infinite and thought that had a rather good and in some places emotional storyline.

Thanks people, I do have a ps3 so I will try to get hold of them games. The last of us has been recommended to me countless times. That mass effect game seems to be getting a lot of recommendations too but that means I have to put up with crappy origin as far as I know.

Cheers for the responses

origin or Xbox 360

Agreed. Brothers has probably the strongest link between gameplay and narrative that I've ever seen in a video game. Very clever design...

But what do I know? I cry all the time at games :D FF9 fills the required criteria for myself.

Ive never been into the final fantasy franchise
