I've had a Gigabyte 965P rev 1.0 DS4 for a while and have been using it with an E6600. I decided to upgrade to a Q6600, but I'm having problems getting the PC to boot. After CPU installation I reset the CMOS using the jumper beside the battery, and it booted OK the first time I tried it. However since then it's taking several attempts to get the PC started. It just gets locked in a reboot cycle, and doesn't get past the POST. For example after pressing the power button it power cycled itself 3 times last night and 4 times this morning before booting successfully. Once booted the system is fine, tested with normal usage and ran 3DMark 06 and Crysis benchmark a few times as well.

Nothing changed other than the CPU. It's fine with the E6600. All connections have been checked.
Setting the CPU to Auto detect, manual 2.4Ghz or 3.0Ghz makes no difference.
The Gigabyte CPU support checklist for my board states it should be fine with BIOS F10 or better.
I have updated the BIOS to F11 from the US Gigabyte site via Gigabyte's own @BIOS tool.
I have manually installed F10 from the download site as well, in case @BIOS was downloading an incorrect version.

Any ideas other than replacing the motherboard or going back to the old E6600 ?

I'm using a Seasonic 650W. Unfortunately I don't have another I could try it with.

You think that could be the problem ? I'm also running a 3870X2, 4x1GB and there are 5 hard drives and a DVDRW in there as well.

It's totally stable once it does boot properly.

It is possible, although not likely. Perhaps see if it goes into POST better with only 1 hard drive attached?
I've had similar problems with Asus boards and never did get to the bottom of the matter.

I'm using a P965-DS3P which I believe is the same mobo as yours minus the fancy heatpipes but mine is a rev2 and that runs my quad overclocked to 3.2 no probs. I'm still on the F5 BIOS though.
