I've currently got a 24" 1080p monitor but I feel my 980Ti is being wasted. I'd love a decent 1440 monitor 27"

What's the "real world" difference between TN and IPS monitors?? I'm not overly clued up on monitors :/

TN = faster response time, less motion blur, worse colour quality, worse viewing angles
IPS = better colours, better viewing angles, worse response time, more motion blur

I got my AOC one for well under £300 but seems to be out of stock at the moment. It's good but there is a small amount of input lag so not suitable for fast paced competitive games. Great for more cinematic games though.

If you don't mind 25" the Dell U2515H is amazing for the money.

I've got a 24" screen just now. I fancy bigger real estate. 27" at 1440 is a sweet spot so I can gather from reading about it....or someone tell me different if it isn't?

I play everything from football manager to BF1 to Skyrim...if and when I get time away from the two boys ;)

I have a 980ti and got the Dell S2716DG.

So far i love the monitor, no issues and looks amazing.

I would recommend this monitor 10/10.

The 980ti handles 1440p nicely and with the Gsync tops it off.

Not always. Seen reviews of TN panel where GTG is low, but input lag is high- so overall ms is higher than the similar IPS panel.

looks good, but at £600 it's twice my budget lol...

ok whats' the better option then

27" 1440 res screen, or a 27" 1080p 144Hz screen?

what is more beneficial the better resolution of 1440 or the faster refresh rate of 144? I'm a bit confused :/

24-27 is almost un-noticeable, IMHO. It's very popular, but justifying the cost for 10% more diagonal is tough. Especially if you happen to have a 1200p screen to start with, since they're about the same height.

I found the following 27" @1440p is way way better than 24" @ 1080p.

If you went from 1440p 24" to 1440p 27" then i can't say as my experience was 1080p to 1440p.

I'm currently on a 24inch 1920 x 1080 and I'm wanting to go to 27inch 1440 screen. I'm hoping it'll be noticeable

I have the Asus MG278Q. It's a 27" 1440p 144hz TN panel, but using a calibrated profile the colours are pretty nice.

If you can save a little more it can be found for £419.

There's no right or wrong answer here. Will depend on you.

Do you value IQ or performance more?

I dont know man. I went from a 24" 16:10 to a 27" 16:9 and it was glorious. It's only 3", but since you're usually seated at a desk quite close to the monitor, it can make a significant difference.

I could never go back to a smaller monitor again.

IQ?? I play a variety of games but I guess the reaction times for FPS games are preferable if that makes any difference

I'm looking at this one, thoughts on it? Pros and cons?????

IQ = image quality. Basically all the aspects of what makes the on-screen image *look good*, separate from how it runs.

If you play a lot of *competitive* FPS's and take them somewhat seriously, I'd say 144hz should definitely be what you should go for. But if you're just a general FPS fan and play a lot of other games, it's necessarily so paramount. You can still prefer it in that case, but it's not anything I'd ever say, "Yes, definitely go for that" in that situation.

It's a hard choice to make unless you've spent a fair bit of time getting to know the advantages. If you played for several months with 1440p IPS, you'd probably find it quite hard to go back to 1080p TN. And if you spent a few months playing at 120fps+, you'd probably find it hard to go back to 60. Without doing both, it's not going to be easy to know which you actually prefer, if you could actually decide on a preference at all.

That Samsung monitor looks fine, though. Dont have any personal experience with it, but Samsung makes good displays and it's a PLS(just their naming of IPS). I think you'd be quite happy with it.
