I'm sick of running out / worrying about diskspace. What's a good 6TB- 8Tb hard drive specifically for a dedicated gaming PC?

I've been running SSDs but I like to keep/try lots of games and I'm always running out of space, then adding SSDs and having to manage install locations, worry about updates, etc. I know some people use an SSD for some games, and then a hdd for the less important games, but I don't think I want to manage installs anymore, I'd rather just let everything install with default settings automatically.

Get primo cache, it will take an old small SSD and use it to cache a large hard drive.
I use it with a 64gb sata ssd and a 3tb spinner as well as an m2 boot drive - speeds the mech drive up nicely.

Your not going to get a mechanical hard drive to be as fast as an ssd and your not going to see very large ssds for less than kidney prices.
The other alternative is going raid but thats a whole different chat.

which are the best
6TB - 8tb hard drives for gaming PC storaGE ?

i have 2 ssds 2TB crucial mx500 my friend.
i want to buy 2 hardisks for gaming because i have a lot of big libraries with old and new games

Also you said that you want to buy 2 hard drives. Not all games require 7200 RPM disks. If you have collection of older games or games that don't have huge open world that needs to be constantly loaded from the HDD then you could put these games on slower 5400 RPM drives saving a bit of money.

You could take 1 7200 drive for more demanding games and 1 5400 drive for older ones.
blue , purple and red are better for gaming against baracuda pro and black ?

i mean these 3 hardisks arent for heavy gaming?blue , purple and red

My preference is WD over Seagate, had WD drives for years without issue. Others will have similar experience with Seagate. With WD drives the main difference is that Reds are optimised for NAS, Purple for CCTV systems. Blue is for general every day use and Black is their performance HDD. Either will work in your PC, but the firmwares are optimised for specific tasks, provided you don’t have an issue with transfer speeds the choice is yours.

For me, with the release of Ryzen 3000 I intend to get 1x WD Black NVME, 1x WD Blue M.2 and 1x WD 4TB+ something, with additional back ups to my NAS. The current games I play most will be on the Blue SSD and the rest backed up on the HDD/NAS, then I’ll swap them as I feel necessary, if at all. PrimoCache also has me interested, so I may well take a look at that.

what you mean when you say that the the firmwares are optimised for specific tasks, provided you don’t have an issue with transfer speeds the choice is yours.?

This site explains the differences; https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/2796-wd-blue-vs-black-vs-red-in-2017

At the end of the day these are hard drives they are designed to store data, in this case your games. Look at either the Blue or Red drives, if you’re worried about load times then look at Black. Red will have the highest capacity but won’t be as quick for loading games.

If you intend to do as I will and keep the games you currently play on SSD and the store the others on a HDD for when you need them go with Blue.

baracuda pro https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seag...ternal-hard-drive-st8000dm0004-hd-37g-se.html is better from blacks and https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-6...formance-hard-drive-wd6003fzbx-hd-551-wd.html and blue for gaming? https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-6...e-internal-hard-drive-wd60ezrz-hd-455-wd.html

Yes, faster than Blue and higher capacity than Black.
baracuda pro https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seag...ternal-hard-drive-st8000dm0004-hd-37g-se.html is better and faster from blacks and https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-6...formance-hard-drive-wd6003fzbx-hd-551-wd.html ?

also why some people say that blacks are better from baracuda pros?
also i am hearing and the opossite that baracuda pros are faster from blacks

i am very comfused i dont know which to buy from these 2

baracuda pro 8Tb or black western 6Tb for gaming and destop use?
some people claim that baracuda pro have a lot of failures

Just pick one and buy it. Any performance differences between the drives will be minimal especially when compared to your SSDs so don't get too caught up in it.
do you believe that Blue, Red, Black, Green, Purple? have the same performance for gaming and destop use?

i have already 2 ssds wth 2TB mx500 and 860 evo.

i want to buy now 2 hardisks 6-8 Tb for gaming storage and destop use.

do you believe that blacks s have suffered from a lot of power creep. ?
