Any good alternatives to this build platform?

Haven't built a new system since 2006, so I'm well out of the hardware loop. Been spending the last week speccing a new build for the end of the month. It will only be used for gaming and general surfing.
I had been looking at the Asus Sabertooth board and an AMD Piledriver:

Are there any alternatives for similar prices, whether it be Intel or another AMD based spec that I should consider for better performance? I'm looking at £550-£600 budget all-in for board/cpu/8GB RAM/256GB SSD/cooler. I have a good PSU and I'll be retaining my HD6850 from this current PC.
The build I have specced around the above board and cpu clocks in at just a hair under £600, so I'd like to keep the board and chip price under £250.

Thanks
Mark

You could opt for non low profile ram like the kit below, but you might lose 2 of your ram slots depending on what cooler you use.

Thanks Lee. Looks like a good mobo/cpu combo. Had a look at various reviews and articles, think I'll go with those. Going with a Samsung 830 SSD which saves me £30, and it should all come in slightly less than what my original AMD build would have.

Why? :/

THe mobo is voltage locked so not ideal for overclocking the i5K. The plextor SSD is better, it rivals the 840 Pro which you are spec'ing elsewhere and it's cheaper than it.

Why add a cooler if the mobo comes with one?

Lots of reasons :p

Trying to keep the cost down to changed SSD, cooler with the mobo is not great, but can be sold if needed and was not aware the board was locked!

Mobo is Xfire/SLI capable, the Z77 D3H is also popular but at £90 it's easy to justify getting the better version. The GB mobos have a Dual BIOS and a 3 year uk based warranty. Plextor drive is nice and fast is a rival to samsungs 840 Pro. RAM is a good price, low profile, good CAS rating. Heatsink is also very good, I dont know your case so please check it's max height for coolers before ordering one

Hope this helps
