Me and two other friends are spending the day and night in dublin.could anyone please recommend a good place to have a drink into the early hours?

Last time I went to Temple, it was stupidly overpriced. Find somewhere that's more like a local bar, is what I did. Better atmosphere and prices :)

This point is entirely valid.

If you've never done TB though its well worth it for the experience. if I went back again now I'd probably find a little local much as you say, but I'm glad I went the first time :)

Fair point :)

enough said, fantastic bar...

Just remember its around 9-10 euros for 2 pints in Dublin..

Oh and during the day you have to do the Guinness and Jamerson tours.

Yea, €5 a pint and even more expensive as the night goes on... don't bother tipping unless you get table service. It's all too easy to say keep the change ;)
Look out for fosters promotions too when you're really short of money, and make sure you have an emergency case of beer at home as it isn't possible to get a takeaway late at night. Dutch gold and tuborg are good choices at €7 for 6 cans, and Dunnes stores do a fine own-brand beer at 80c a can.

1. Go to Temple Bar
2. Wait for ages to get served with all the other tourists
3. When you do get served, pay over the odds for your pint.
4. Feel ripped off.

Really, Gilly - I expected better.

I dont know what its called but its like 10 doors down from the Pizza Hut on the corner.

We went there for a few beers while watching England I think it was.

Beer wasn't too expensive either, and the owner was a nice chap, gave us some rounds of shots for free :D

/edit - crap I am talking about a Irish Bar in Barcelona

Sorry

You expect prices to be reasonable in a capital city? I don't mind paying slightly over the odds for drinks for a good night, and thats certainly what I had in TB.

I preferred Cork, but not for the prices.

1. Hire a car.
2. Drive about 1.5-2hrs out of Dublin to Galway/Kerry/Limerick, book into B&B
3. Experience a little of the 'real' Ireland rather than the 'tourist' Ireland
4. Drink Guiness
5. Drive back to Dublin in the morning with a stinking hangover

:D

1. yep
2. Nope service is really quick, even when busy, however if you drink Guiness they pour it properly and that takes time.
3) Pretty much everything around that area in Dublin is the same price. Some places do 2 bottles for 6 Euro s, but that's only just over a pint anyway.
4) no different than going to the centre of London.

Do you mean the *actual* Temple Bar? It didn't look much good to us when we walked past, ended up in Flanigans or Hannigans or something :p

Thats the thing you walked past it. Flanigans is good. But temple bar is where it's at. Live Irish music. Huge place. You really did miss out.

You did OK there. The Temple Bar was nothing special when we were there but the surrounding area was good.

Bad Bobs/ Fitzsimons. Mental times, also if you have time go to the guiness factory, i enjoyed it.. and i dont even like guiness :D
