any good COD 4 servers (especially looking for realism mods?)

I've finally got round to playing cod 4 online and was slightly disappointed by all the nade spam and on screen hints. Seemed a bit arcady for my liking.

Can anyone recommend some good UK/EURO servers which promote teamwork and, even better, use realism mods (which may or may not exist yet - i don't actually know?).

Theres a built into the game "hardcore" mode which removes hud crosshairs etc but its just as much of a pain in the ass as grenade deaths are much more frequent.
 
thanks...btw i've been trying to connect to some servers this evening but they're all timing out on me and i can't even get in. My internet connection seems up and fine...any ideas?
 
A quick remedy for this connection problem is to set the timeout to be longer in your CoD 4 multiplayer config file, found in the profile folder of your player. For example, mine is: C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\string\config_mp.cfg Yours could be C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\YOURNAME\config_mp.cfg

Open the file up in notepad or any other text editor (I use ConText), and add this line: seta cl_connectionAttempts "30" - this will give the connection 30 seconds, and normally fixes the problem.
 
This is the TLG server that we run,it's hardcore and unfurtunately at the mo only TDM,and only 12 max although it will be 18-20 soon,but its quite popular.

Its better to use WordPad as it sets it out nice & neat instead of the single endless line you get with NotePad
 
Hi, we currently run 6 very popular servers covering TDM, DM, a mix of the other game types running in rotation and hardcore with up to 276 player slots and on average 180 filled at peak times.

Were waiting on the release of the extreme mod which we played full time in COD2, and will put a server up with it as soon as it comes out.

Set FOV to 80, big difference ;)

Also cl_maxpackets 100 or something, should lower your ping.

edit; Another thing is to up your FPS cap if you want to, can't remember the line, just search for FPS in the file.

This raises your cap to 125 fps, which was the general standard accepted for perfect on cod1 and 2
 
if a connection times out, at the console just type recon and press tab, then press return. i often fail to connect the first time but \reconnect succeeds about 80% of the time.
