So far I can't find any good detective games, so need some help please from those who have played any good ones of late?

TY in advance

LA Noire but it's a very old game. There was meant to be a new Tex Murphy game but I haven't been following it's development so worth looking into. As for newish titles then Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

If you're prepared to go back a very very long time, I can still recommend a number of Infocom text-only titles. I don't think they've ever been bettered:

Deadline
Suspect
Witness

Then (still ancient) another game that was very well done and can still be played on Atari ST and Amiga emulators is 'Murder'.
It's an isometric view game set in old country mansions in a old-film thirties-style setting. The murders are randomly generated with several million possibilities. It takes the Cluedo idea but transforms it into something new that I haven't seen since.
Not particularly deep, but interesting and fun.

The Wolf Among Us is a detective noir type game. Although the style and setting is rather unique. Still a good game though.

Farenheit: Indigo Prophecy maybe? Also Heavy Rain, but I think that one is console only.

The Last Express (murder mystery set on the Orient Express)
Still Life (Jack the Ripper type mystery set in the present and past)

What aspect of 'detective' are you after?

Murdered: Soul Suspect is alright (although the save system drove me to give up)
Her Story
Discworld Noir
Blade Runner
Farenheit (already suggested above)

Witcher 3, you basically play medieval detective

But yeah LA Noire is probably the best purely detective focused game ever made. Quite astonishing production.

Not sure what you have played so some of these might be pretty obvious.

Overclocked: a history of violence. A fairy old point and click which stood out for me.
Firewatch ? Has a sort of detective vibe to it and is 3d open world.
Broken sword 1-5.
The CSI games.

Sherlock Holmes.

There's been a few down the years, but the last two (crimes and punishment, devils daughter) people speak highly of them.

Life is Strange is a great detective game. You play a detective with time travel powers and an affinity for blue haired girls.
