Here's the spec

should i pick this up just for now...

Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.60GHZ
3GB DDR2 RAM
500GB SATA HDD
NVIDIA ENGT220 1GB Graphics with (VGA DVI + HDMI output)
DVD-RW
Wireless
Windows 7, Office 2010, Card Reader
£150

That's all i really need to know. i want it for general use and maybe i can drop a new GFX and more RAM but it'd be nice to get a better CPU for it although it is Quad Core.

Thanks i'll look into it , all i need now is the guy to contact me back as he left no number to call him and sheffield forums dosnt carry contact info ... arrg

I think i'll spring for a Cooler Master Elite Power 500W Power Supply and a MSI HD 6850 "Dual Fan Edition" 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [R6850-PM2D1GD5]
with some Corsair Value Select 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C4 667MHz Dual Channel Kit

maybe that will give it a boost ... might add some more fans in there too

I would be more tempted to go for this PSU instead: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-OC

Same price, and there are some people who's perfectly running a 6850 on it.

Any idea what motherboard it is yet? Once you overclock that Q6600 to 3ghz+ you'll have a nice budget gaming PC :).

Thanks that sounds nice bit cheaper, i havent actually got it as such i've just contacted the guy and i'm picking it up tonight.

I'll drop a spec on here from it when i've actually got it running at home.

MSI HD 7770 Power Edition Transthermal OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

What about this instead? can i support it? it's the same price as the 6850

got the PC ran a diagnostic on it then checked if it would run diablo 3 on Can i run this and it says i can ... woohooo now i want arma 2 dayz and diablo3 and im good to go

MPC73VT-PM motherboard
Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.60GHZ
coolermaster Heatsink CM12v
standard 250w PSU
3GB DDR2 RAM 667
Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA HDD
NVIDIA ENGT220 1GB Graphics with (VGA DVI + HDMI output)
DVD-RW
Wireless
Windows 7, Office 2010, Card Reader

I need to upgrade the PSU soon and i want a new case this one is too noisy, would like something with around 5 fans too improve airflow and if push comes to shove i'll get a liquid cooler for the CPU because this one is LOUD!

any recommendations now that i know the motherboard... i would like something that has good cable management... i was thinking...

Cooler Master Elite 430 Windowed Case

BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Case - Black

Cooler Master Elite 371 Midi Tower Case

I like the shinobi most as it looks mean

I've worked with the CM Elite 430 before, and it's got good cable management. Airflow is pretty good as well.

That's a small looking CPU cooler, I can imagine that being the loudest thing :p. Can you stretch to this? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-GD&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2344

As for the PSU, I'll stick with my recommendation of the OCZ CoreXtreme, unless you have a bit more cash for a better PSU.

I can stretch .. but what about a watercooled CPU?

thanks for the advice i might try out the one you recommended.. any specific reason it's good or just reliability, quietness and value

OK got a good idea of what i want now...

Kingston 2GB (1x2GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C5 667MHz Single Channel Memory Module [KVR667D2N5/2G]

Matches the 2Gb DDR2 667Mhz RAM i have in spec

Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply [RS500-AMBAD3-UK]

I picked this PSU because its modular and comes with all the cables so that i don't have to go around picking them all up.

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) [GEL-TRANQUILLO ]

Make things quieter

and one of these complimented with 5 fans and some noise dampening

NZXT Source 220 Midi-Tower Case - Black [CA-S0220-01]

BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Case - Black [BFC-SNB-150-KKN1-RP]

Xigmatek Midgard II Gaming Tower Case - Black [CCC-AM36BS-U01]

can anyone see any issues/ better ideas... i'm looking for a hassle free install and want it all tidy inside.

mATX means micro ATX, it's smaller than the standard ATX (4 expansion lots vs 7). But because of this, it fits in both mATX and ATX cases.

I would go for the BitFenix since it looks the nicest ;).

What do you think to the PSU?

Also can anyone recommend a GFX card around 6850 level that isnt super loud... i will have a lot of airflow through the case so maybe i can get a fanless

I've got this

Gigabyte GeForce GT 640 OC 2048MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card [GV-N640OC-2GI]

this

Asus GeForce GTX 550Ti 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [90-C1CR70-L0UAY0YZ]

this

PowerColor HD 6850 Passive Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [AX6850 1GBD5-S3DHG]

or this ?

MSI HD 6850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [R6850-PM2D1GD5/OC]

Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case - Silver Arrow [FD-CA-DEF-R3-USB3-SI ]

decided to go for this as i saw the R4 and wanted it but i'l make the step down and drill a few airholes in the bottom and mount to PSU facing down to improve cooling

Might spring a £5 more for the mini version if it comes nto stock... need to sell my xbox first then i can buy all my pretty things
