Hey,
Yesterday I was in the middle of an installation, and had to reboot my PC a few times. After a certain restart however, I think something short-circuited as my hard-drive stopped responding. Essentially, the system was still trying to start up (fans, heatsink, etc. were turning on), but there seemed no life from my hdd which is usually a small beep and then the motor kicks in.
I left the PC alone for a while in the hope that it was just something being tempermental, but when I tried to turn it on a few hours later it managed about three seconds before shutting down again which seems like the PSU is probably fried.
I was just wondering if anyone is able to diagnose the actual problem, or if my assumptions are correct and the problem is the PSU. Also, I'm a little concerned about the contents on my hdd. Without another PSU, it's difficult to test to see if it still works, but if it doesn't can I safely assume that I've lost everything on there?
TIA!
