So I've got this set of Labtec 5.1 surround sound speakers. They've always worked great on my old XP machine (Or so I thought(They actually only worked in 2.1 because I needed new drivers)) and they only cost me £15 due to a mispricing on the site I bought them (Believe me, they are not cheap). I bought them about 4-5 years ago and they still look new, huge subwoofer really packs a punch.
To the point, I've never done much high end gaming till I got my new rig, gaming galore and Vista 64 Ultimate. I ran a test straight off using the windows sound stuff and was delighted to hear sound out of all 5 and the woofer seperately, so I went into a game. Base base base base base, it took over everything, I have to turn the base down seperately to hear anything over it.
Sure enough, the speakers only work in 2.1 because they need new drivers. But as they're so old, I don't even know what model they are, and Labtecs site has no speakers on it anyway!
Is there any hope in finding a fix, or do you think it's time for some new speakers?
(I've really got to point out, these are NOT bad speakers, they are brilliant, worth more than I bought them for 4 years later, gotta love mispricing)
