Whats the beef? I mean, I'm happy in my current role which is for a large IT company, but I want a bit more diversity.

I'm guessing looking through some contracting agencies, submitting your CV is the best way forward?

I'm happy to sort out my own pension, training etc and understand the sickpay / holiday pay issue.

I've also got security clearance (not DV) so can work on government projects too.

Just looking for info really. Was it the best thing you ever did. Do you find the admin side a struggle, where do you look for jobs, etc, etc

I've done it but now that I'm married with kids I opted to go back into full-time work. In the 90s I did it and it made me a lot of money which gave me the freedom to take a year-long sabbatical. Now I work with a lot of contractors and the market is getting a little better after a very tough couple of years.

Read up on IR35. Nasty bit of legislation that came in 10 years ago.

Contracting will certainly open your eyes to how business works but it's not for everyone.
